I was wondering,
How long does it normally take an apple release of GM software to get to our iphones in an official public release?
Is there a normal time line that anyone has seen from past experiences?
Also how long does it normally take after that to see a jailbreak?
Thanks everyone,

I often point to my first post on Twitter, the day it launched in 2006. Why? Mostly because of how wrong I was. Best line: “I imagine most users are not going to want to have all of their Twttr messages published on a public website.” I also love that original vowel-free logo.
The first couple of comments to that post are classic as well:

I have looked all over this site and Google, and can’t seem to find anyone that’s having the same problem as me, so I’m guessing I’m making a stupid mistake somewhere along the line. I was only able to jailbreak for the first time with 4.0.0, so never had any files from an older version, etc. I have learned how to change the unlock & power down icons and text, changed iPod to my name, changed the color of the battery up top, changed the battery screen, but can not figure out how to change the icons. I have followed every guide I have found, but none of them seem to work. I’ve done a set of icons in Photoshop that are the right size and all, but no matter which guide I follow, the icons stay the same. I see other people’s screenshots with new icons on the 4.0, so can someone maybe give me a hand?

In case you were wondering (I’m looking at you Levine): Live Nation and sister company Ticketmaster have jointly announced that they’ll be the ones powering the concert listings feature on iTunes 10.
In addition, the company said it will deliver a “way for millions of iTunes users to purchase concert tickets at Livenation.com and Ticketmaster.com“.

At today’s Apple Press event, Steve Jobs dropped some pretty impressive iPod stats, as he announced a complete revamp of the line.
In addition to the new Nano, Shuffle, Jobs introduced a ramped up iPod touch, which is the most popular iPod model and also outsells Nintendo and Sony combined in terms of being a portable game player. The iPod sales contribute to the over 230K iOS devices activated a day as well as provide distribution channels for Apple’s very lucrative content business, says Jobs.
“People have downloaded over 11.7 billion songs from iTunes, and we’re just about to cross 12b. Over 450 million TV episodes, 100 million movies, 35 million books, and over 160 million accounts with credit cards and 1-click shopping in 23 countries.”
The new iPod line will ship next week.

Apple is announcing a complete new iPod line up today with the iPod shuffle up first. The new version might look familiar because it’s basically the second and third generation combined. Fine by us. It’s the best of both.
